About Vivien
Recent news
Those of you who know Vivien as a painter may not know that she has recently taken up sculpture at the Heatherly School of Fine Art, under John Dean. As well as figures and heads of models, she has been commissioned (twice) by members of the Thomas Hardy Society to sculpt heads of the great writer, and is at present working on a commissioned portrait head. She also has a new line in miniature light-weight painted caricature figurines for wedding cakes etc! To see these sculptures please visit her sculpture page. She is still also painting and drawing of course, and would be glad to hear from you if you'd like to commission a painting or sculpture. Please use this Contact form . Vivien's Background Vivien's art training was unconventional. She studied psychology at university and became a civil servant. It was only in 1990, on moving to Princeton USA for 3 years with her husband and 2 small children, that she was able to go to art classes. Her main interest was the human form, and she was quickly taken aside by painter Jacques Fabert, who specialises in the human form, working as a traditional apprentice in his studio for the following three years. From 1990 to 1996, and since 2008, Vivien has been a full-time artist. (She had a 12-year gap while running a Domiciliary Care company with her husband). She has exhibited five times at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, and in several prestigious exhibitions, including the Pastel Society, and the New English Art Club (NEAC) at the Mall Galleries. She has shown in many private galleries, and has had 2 one-man shows. |
